Fatemeh Seifar, MD

Fatemeh received her M.D. from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran. She conducted her medical dissertation at the University of Southern Denmark, focusing on the age and gender dependency of brain glucose metabolism using brain PET/CT scans. She has been involved in multiple clinical trials and clinical projects related to the pathogenesis and treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). After graduating from medical school, she worked as a researcher at the Stem Cell Research Center at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, where she contributed to various epidemiological and basic science projects, investigating stroke biomarkers and investigating new diagnostic tools for different types of cancer. To pursue her dream of becoming a physician-scientist, she joined the Emory Neuroscience Ph.D. program in 2019. Her research interests lie in identifying the similarities and distinguishable molecular signatures in different types of dementia using brain proteomics subtyping.
